That was short lived ...
I already broke a New Year's Resolution.
I bid farewell to a plant. I was hoping I could nurse it back to health. But, alas, it was its time to go.

I'm sure the plant had it coming. ;)
It was probably a thornbush in a former life.
(I don't feel dogmatically required to believe that karma and the cycle of rebirth does not hold true for plants, though I do have some qualms about their moral culpability in a wider sense.)
